Salon.com suggests staying indoors on July 4, in fear that going outside could give you the potential for “premature death and adverse cardiovascular [and respiratory] effects.”
The reason is air particles from fireworks. However,
the article that they published states that these particles almost always stayed below what the EPA considers to be safe. And any that went above almost immediately went below the threshold.
So if you go outside over the weekend to see fireworks, Salon suggests keeping in mind that such displays could cause you irreparable harm.
