George Takei: Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas a “Clown in Blackface”

Pointedly disagreeing with several points from Clarence Thomas, George Takei called the Supreme Court Justice a “Clown in blackface.”

“He is a clown in blackface sitting on the Supreme Court,” Takei said of Thomas, who is African American. “He gets me that angry. He doesn’t belong there.”

Takei took exception to statements that Thomas said when he voted against same-sex marriage. People don’t lose their dignity or humanity just because the government allows or disallows something to happen, Thomas stated.

Specifically, Thomas wrote:
“The corollary of that principle is that human dignity cannot be taken away by the government. Slaves did not lose their dignity (any more than they lost their humanity) because the government allowed them to be enslaved. Those held in internment camps did not lose their dignity because the government confined them. And those denied governmental benefits certainly do not lose their dignity because the government denies them those benefits. The government cannot bestow dignity, and it cannot take it away.”
Takei took offense to that and launched into the following tirade:
