Data Suggests Traffic on Reddit Actually Increased During "Blackout"

Despite dozens of subreddits going private to protest the firing of Victoria Taylor, early data suggests that traffic on Reddit.com actually increased instead of decreasing.

Hundreds of thousands of Redditors took exception to the abrupt dismissal of Ms. Taylor, a visible member of the Reddit community who helped set up and conduct interviews on Reddit, called "Ask Me Anything." Thousands said they were looking for another website to frequent.

According to Alexa.com, an analytics website owned by Amazon, Reddit's world ranking increased in the first few days of July, suggesting a surge in traffic:

Only time will tell if this trend will continue, or if this surge in traffic is a blip before the average Redditor leaves the site.
