10-Year-Old Boy Raised as Girl for Two Years as a "Project" to make him an "Enlightened Adult"

Writing to Slate, a concerned reader asked for advice when it came to an "unusual request" that his wife had to face.

The reader explained what can only be described as a form of abuse: the reader's wife is a ballet instructor. Two parents recently came to her and requested that their 10-year-old son, named Dan in the letter, be given private dancing lessons.

Dan identifies as a boy. However, his parents told the ballet instructor to address him as "Danielle" and that he would be dressed in a pink tutu.
Dan's parents further told the instructor that this was not his choice; instead, they said that they are forcing him to dress and live like a female for two years as an "experiment" to make him a more "enlightened adult."

The reader said that his wife rejected the request, as she saw it as unhealthy, particularly because it was against Dan's will.

Slate responded that a call to Child Protective Services was warranted and that this "project" was clearly emotional abuse.

  4. Child abuse comes in many shapes and sizes. This specific kind is just grotesque in it's distorted worldview.

  5. Wow, so Dan hates women do much he wouldn't even so much as TRY to walk a mile in a woman's shoes? He needs the patriarch-run Child Protective Services to "save him from" having to experience issues women deal with? It takes a different kind of mother to want her son to connect on a level not many men get to experience freely because of the oppressive nature society has conducted around gender!!!

  6. Gender confusion even when it is NOT forced on a child and simply occurs, dramatically heightens a child's risk of suicide, depression, and various mental illnesses. Forcing this on a ten year old boy who will have trouble enough--as everyone does--figuring out who he is, what he wants, and how to be in the world, is disgraceful.

This experiment will also imply to the boy that there is something wrong with maleness--why else would it be so imperative to live as a girl? We can only hope the boy is taken from these obviously unfit parents and given into foster care and a family that will love and nurture who he is.

    1. This IS child abuse. It is no worse then locking your child in a basement for a few months as an 'experiment'. You see I agree it implies something wrong or misguided about the other half of the human race.

I suppose their obvious liberal education conveniently forget to mention males commit suicide far more often then females and I'm sure (sarcasm) this won't be a factor later in life. Funny how those little facts get left out of our 'modern and balanced' educational system.
